WHY SPIN & YOGA?

Burn, Burn, Burn Calories: A good thirty minute workout on a Spinning Cycle can burn as much as 500 calories!

Mental Concentration and Focus: Experts say competing is 80% mental or more…let Yoga and Spin strengthen your mental state and assist with climbing those steep hills or help power through your long run. Yoga provides the ability to focus the mind – while Spin helps us remember to push through difficult times, up hill climbs and through endurance training.

Cardiovascular Health: Heart health is an obvious benefit, as is lung capacity. Working harder during Spinning allows us to work on controlled breathing, and this can reduce anxiety and help lower the heart rate when we’re in a situation where physical exertion begins to take the breath away.

Better Core Strength and Integration: It’s all about the CORE! The core is at the center of power and the ability to maintain balance…integrating the muscles in the rest of the body. Yoga core strengtheners include asanas such as twists, planks and backbends (among others). Transitions between asanas in yoga use core strength as well, providing stability and smooth motion. And in addition to the major leg muscles worked during Spinning, the abdominal muscles get a workout, as well!

Improves Flexibility and Range of Motion: Repetitive training routines can cause muscles to become tight and in turn, render them more prone to injury. Improved flexibility means less stains, sprains & torn ligaments!

Enhances the Mind Body Connection: Our bodies signal us every day with small (and sometimes large) bits of information. Often, if we are not listening, we ignore these important signs. Yoga heightens the ability to recognize this feedback and use this information to make adjustments in daily workouts and activities.

Injury Prevention: Injuries – the nemesis of all athletes. Not only are they hard on us physically, but mentally as well – the change in routine, healing of the body and lengthy recovery time take a toll on any injured soul. The items above – Better Core Strength, Mind-Body Connections, Flexibility and Focus all add up to help prevent injuries!
